Porifera recruits Dr. Olgica Bakajin to lead R&D effort
Porifera recruits Dr. Olgica Bakajin to lead R&D operations and serve as a Chief Technology Officer. Dr. Bakajin along with Dr. Aleksandr Noy led the group at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory that discovered the fast flow of water and gases through carbon nanotubes.
Dr. Bakajin cames to Porifera from LLNL, where she built and led a successful multi million dollar R&D program. She started at LLNL as a distinguished Lawrence Fellow after a brief postdoc at the National Institutes of Health. She received her PhD in physics from Princeton University in 2000 and a BA in physics and chemistry from the University of Chicago in 1996. She has published >35 peer reviewed articles and her work has been cited over 2000 times. Bakajin also co-authored 6 US patents.
“Private sector is the right place for technology development and I am really excited that I will have a chance to make carbon nanotube membranes work in the real world.” said Bakajin.
Porifera Inc. is a San Francisco Bay Area based company whose goal is commercialization of carbon nanotube membrane technology. Porifera combines groundbreaking research advances with solid technological and marketing expertise to develop solutions that will revolutionize the membrane industry and provide clean drinking water and air free of pollutants.
